Welcome to A Chick And Her Garden!

Sharing is caring!

Welcome to my blog! I would like to use this platform to share with you my experiences on our little homestead! I am a preschool teacher by profession, but a homesteader at heart!

In July of 2013, my husband and I bought our little house with 3 acres of land knowing that, although it needed some love, this was going to be our forever home! Fortunately for this girl, I found myself a pretty handy guy. Nick is an electrician and I am lucky to find a guy that would prefer to DIY just like me!

Slowly we are turning it into our own little secret garden to come home to, and I am in love! We are also fortunate in the fact that we have met like minded friends in our area and most of our neighbors are very similar in lifestyle choices.

Since we have moved in we purchased 10 Buff Orpingtion chickens with the goal to have them as a dual purpose bird (eggs and meat). This is turning out better than we could’ve imagined and we seem to be converting people to mini chicken farmers left and right haha!

We have also put in a vegetable garden and numerous flower beds around the property. We also have the goals of adding goats and bees within the next year.

A few other hobbies of mine that I hope to share with you are crafting, knitting, canning/preserving and cooking! I hope that you enjoy what I have to share!

XOXO

So glad to have found your site. I'm looking forward to reading more! A question. How do you keep your hands warm and dry during the winter months, and still have the ability to perform the many outside tasks? Thanks

Hey,

I recently came across your site and I’m wondering if I can post one of my articles here.

I’ve been writing up home improvement articles too and would love the chance to write

on your blog but I couldn't manage to find your email. If you could get a hold of me at

[email protected]? I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Katie
