As a homesteader at heart Dana loves things that increase production, self-sufficiency and efficiency. You will most often find her in the garden, seeing to the animals or sitting in the sun watching her children play. In the kitchen, she always doing something; dreaming up new recipes, fermenting, baking, cooking and making soap or skincare. Dana also works part-time as a nurse at the local hospital. As a family, they are living in the south of stunning New Zealand on 10 acres as they are working towards self-sufficiency. Dana is happiest when she has several projects on the go, creating a big mess while making delicious and beautiful things.

The Usual Mayhem

Erin’s a homeschooling, homesteading small farming mother of three with too many unfinished quilting projects and not nearly enough animals yet. In her “spare” time, she writes at her blog The Usual Mayhem, and is the author of the Farmschooling curriculum series.

Skip The Bag

Wednesday 24th of May 2017

I'm so excited to be back! I've added posts about going plastic free with your travel toiletries, why having all white dishes is the best, and my sad story of losing my chickens. Without my chickens I feel more like a gardener than a homesteader. I can't wait to see all the other great posts.
